The Toxic Coin We Toss As Women

We as women have all at one stage or another found ourselves in situations where we have been made to feel unworthy, or not enough. We have walked into rooms filled with people who don't see our worth or treat us like we're not valuable. On that same token we have walked into spaces where we feel like we're too much and so we dim our light or dilute ourselves down so as not to make the others feel uncomfortable in our presence. Both of these situations are two sides of the same toxic coin and the same outcome occurs - we end up playing small, afraid to use our true voice and show up in all our glory to make the world a better place with our knowledge. We allow ourselves to slowly slither away into insignificance and hide away from opportunities that could bring every thing we've ever wanted to life.

When I deeply contemplate all of the times and ways I, and so many women, have held ourselves back for the sake of others' comfort, it brings a great sadness to me wondering just what amazing truths, knowledge and powerful insights we as a collective have missed. What transformative insights have we never pondered? How many life changing stories have we never heard? How many magnificent, powerful women will we never discover because she walked into a room and felt far too small or far too much? In this day and age, after fighting so long and hard to just be heard in the first place - women holding themselves back through the fear of making others uncomfortable in their presence really gives us something to think about.

I know as I write this there's so many relatable lines that will jump out from the page, simply because if you're a woman reading this, I know you've been here too. How many nights have you lay awake with so many amazing ideas in your head, only to have talked yourself out of sharing them by morning? How many ways have you found yourself changing, moulding and making yourself smaller to go in a direction that seems easier, more accepted or more comfortable than the road that leads you to growth and evolution? How many times has the feeling of discomfort in your solar plexus allowed you to believe it was gut instinct and had you walk away from an absolute dream only to realise later it was all you ever really wanted and now it's lost?

Your days of diluting yourself down to be accepted have to be over before you can step into the light. You can make the decision right now to walk in faith and hold space for what's ahead whilst being grateful for what you've got. It's possible to absolutely accept yourself just as you are today whilst doing the inner work to become the version of you that can hold on to, create and magnetise beautiful things in your world. You have the power to understand that you can plant one foot in desire and the other in gratitude and allow these two phenomenal emotions to co-exist, because it gets to be that easy. You can learn to live in, and thrive, in duality. You can shift the paradigm where you believe that in order to have one thing you need to let go of another - and realise that you have two hands, with enough strength to carry both.

The duality will always exist, both inside you and in the world. The only thing that matters is how you show up for that truth. How you play this out. You get to be all that you are now and become all you're going to be in future, whilst never for a second sacrificing your worth. You are worthy now, you'll be worthy then - that doesn't change. Your worth does not fluctuate depending on your achievements - it's not validated by things outside of yourself. You determine your worth, you determine your journey and you determine which path you'll walk down to get to your desired outcome. No matter how many rooms you walk into filled with people who are not your people.
